Studies show that the fear of speaking in public is rated one of the\u00a0highest stress factors for most people. How does one conquer this fear?<\/p>

The answer is by facing it \u2013 yes, actually standing up and doing it!<\/p>

At POWERtalk you get to do this at your own pace. We have members who are keen to speak right away, and members who take longer before giving their first speech.<\/p>

Meetings are programmed in advance, you are given plenty of notice before being required to do an assignment and the programmer will take your level of confidence and experience into consideration when allocating assignments.<\/p>

Members learn to delegate, prioritise, and manage their time effectively \u2013 vital for achieving personal and professional goals. Speech and Writing Contests <\/i><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Speaking competitions are held annually at clubs, with club winners progressing to the National Competition, conducted annually in conjunction with the Association conference. Competition is enthusiastic and high quality, with members keen to receive the prestige of winning this competition.<\/p>

In addition to open speech contests, the Cosmopolitan Speech Contest provides an opportunity for speakers who have been schooled in languages other than English to compete at a higher level.<\/p>

Writing competitions are held yearly and are also hotly contested. The theme of the competition varies and can include:\u00a0 fiction, non-fiction, blogs and articles, and poetry<\/p>

It\u2019s often difficult to get honest and constructive feedback on the performance of your presentation. This is where POWERtalk Australia really shines.<\/p>

Evaluative feedback is an important part of our organisation and takes place at all meetings.<\/p>

Evaluation is carried out in a supportive and nurturing manner and will usually contain both commendations and recommendations. The evaluator will take into consideration the level of the one being evaluated when performing the evaluation.<\/p>

Most meetings include a general evaluation session at the end of the meeting at which the entire evening is evaluated including the running of the business session, providing continued training and education.<\/p>
